Just One Thing (27 February 2025)

It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished! Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

Yesterday I cycled(!) all the way into the city to take the bicycle to the workshop for a service, even though it was cold and I really don't like cycling in the city (too much traffic). Today I picked it up and cycled it home. So glad I only have to take it into the city twice a year for this.

I admire people who go biking in the cold.

I got up & dressed for an at home appointment. I had the appointment & went out to run errands. I walked to drop off donations, recycling & got snacks from a corner store. I also got a new to me jacket out of the donations. It's soft & has long sleeves & pockets! I unboxed & assembled my work equipment. I am starting a new wfh job on monday so I have a company monitor, laptop, etc. I have most of it done. I would like to mount the monitor on the arm I have, if I can.

I still need to make rice pudding for a make ahead breakfast but I may take a nap first.

I get my nap in & I made rice pudding along side dinner. Yay time management so I didn't have to stand in the kitchen longer then needed.

Today Doug picked up the Gorilla dump cart, which holds 9 cubic feet, at Costco. We managed to shove it onto our trolley and haul it into the garden shed for later assembly. \o/

It is an awesome product. We assembled it today! We feel very accomplished. :D It only took us about 2 hours total. I wasn't sure we could finish it in a day, but it's among the easier projects we have assembled. This will make hauling cut grass and branches much easier.

The parts are all super sturdy. The hardware came vacuum-sealed to a card numbered by the assembly steps. The bucket has holes in the sides for a top cage. Alas, the company doesn't sell a top cage accessory. :( But they do sell all the loose parts for the cart, so if anything breaks, it can be replaced and repaired. \o/ I am a big fan of fixable tech.

Also this style of cart comes in multiple sizes so there's one for most purposes. They make a few other types too.

That looks way easier to deal with than a wheelbarrow.

It feels easier, although we haven't loaded it yet. The front axle pivots so turning should be easier.

I suspect the main disadvantage will be that a heavier load will be more challenging to dump. But not having to lift one end off the ground and haul it that way will be easier.
