Just One Thing (6 September 2015)

It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

Remembered to look at the weather in Italy *before* I started packing.

Sorted some stuff that needed sorting. Wrote! Drew something I liked yesterday, for the first time in far too long.

Almost won at 7 Wonders, which was a good make-up for how poorly Betrayal at the House on the Hill treated me.

7Wonders is a great game and almost winning is an achievement in itself. What strategy were you using?

I had Rhodes-B, so mostly it was "Build Wonder, small army, get what you can." I kept feeding science to the person to my left, who was the person who won (by coins tiebreaker - I spent most of my time having to buy resources from everyone, instead of being bought from) with a giant science pile.

So I got most of military (12), a decent amount of blue cards (15, plus 77 for wonder), and good guild selection (20).

Final score was 59-59 between me and the scientist.

Urgh, I hate Rhodes so much. I have to admit that I tend to be the person hogging all the science when I play.

How many players did your game have?

5 players, so a pretty big group.

I've never been able to get a huge science stash - when it's available, which isn't often, there's also usually a resource I need to get for later along with it, so I get the resource instead.

The thing about science is that they're really easy to "chain", but once you've started going you have to keep going, so it's often an all-or-nothing position.

It seems easier than it is, I guess, because I tend to get beat by the person playing science.
