And, hardest of all: did not adopt another cat or even start to, because my current cat is an Only Cat as fuck, and then when I went to get him his food I made the mistake of going into the pet store's rescue kitty room, and this one sweet furball loved on me. OOOOOOPS. But I didn't, and now my Only-Cat-As-Fuck is curled up on me loving on me and I know I made the hard right choice for his sake.
