It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

Things I did today:

Got out of bed despite nowhere near enough sleep and I DON'T WANNA

Drank ALL THE FLUIDS despite exhausted and I DON'T WANNA

Ate food despite exhausted and I DON'T WANNA

Phoned to cancel wheelchair taxi today and tomorrow (this required SEVEN phone calls before I got through to a human, and 21 minutes on hold - the system puts you on hold for 3 minutes and then tells you to call back later and hangs up on you)

Phoned to cancel GP and reschedule

Phoned up to see if the shuttle bus to The Wombats concert was wheelchair accessible - no

Looked into whether it was feasible to see The Wombats in concert (no - the location is one where I'd be in danger of being stranded for more than two hours, because even if you book a wheelchair taxi THREE BUSINESS DAYS in advance, they won't send a wheelchair taxi more than 10km from where the taxi randomly happens to be.)

Phoned electricity company re a grant I might be eligible for

Went online to set up paperless billing for my electricity bill

2x Phoned specialist's receptionist
- scheduled two appointments;
- got on cancellation list;
- ask about writing a report for the NDIS

Sent multiple emails about my NDIS application

Answered a call from a disability service provider and was assertive at them that no, 17 Aug didn't work for me, and no 13 Aug didn't work either. Made them promise no one would rock up at my house without my prior permission (this has happened in the past)

Phoned to book a wheelchair taxi to GP for 17 August

Sent a scary email

That is a lot of things to do!

And I'm sorry you can't go to the concert. :(

And I'm sorry you can't go to the concert. :(

Yeah, me too. :(

I found out about this when I got stranded at an outdoor concert venue after a concert for hours - my partner started getting hypothermia!

We waited more than 2 hours... we only got a taxi in the end because a driver went out of his way as a favour to us... the taxi company kept saying they couldn't send us a taxi that was more than 10km (6.2miles) from us...

The consequence - other than flaring up my pain & fatigue & flaring up my partners asthma (he started coughing because he was shaking from the cold) is that we've decided we can never go to that concert venue again. Even though it's only 23.7km (a 24 minute drive!) from my house!

This is a different concert venue to the one we got stranded at, but it's a similar distance from my house/the CBD, so it's likely it would happen again.

I hope the appointment wrangling makes the next few weeks a little easier.

It was more about the fact that I was too exhausted to cope with the appointments as originally scheduled (9 August and 10 August) and so I had to move them.

The appointment wrangling will actually make the next few weeks *harder* - because I have to go to appointments instead of staying home -

but I have to go to at least one appointment because I need to get a specialist report to support my National Disability Insurance Scheme application so that I continue to have a power wheelchair, and someone to come out to my house to repair it several times a year...

so it's short term pain for (hopefully) long term not-losing-my-wheelchair.

(I won't say gain: I won't come out ahead from where I am now, I just won't go backwards...)

Didn't let the brainweasels get the best of me on matters pertaining to the heat of the house.
