Despite everyone being particularly ratty today, managed to have a really nice two-and-a-half hour fancy lunch at the RSC rooftop restaurant in Stratford-upon-Avon with the children.

Ha, thanks! I have slowly been learning that if we set out our expectations clearly before we go into these things, they usually behave quite a bit better than if we don't explain what's happening beforehand. So we said that we were going to a posh restaurant, there would be no phones, they had to sit down nicely and they would only be able to order dessert if they had behaved during the meal. This appears to have been sufficient motivation! :P

I think that's a mistake I often make, not preparing my eldest enough about what to expect sometimes. Will try to do better, thanks for the inspiration.

I went for a one-hour walk with the baby in her pram. It doesn't sound like much, but it's part of my resolution to walk more now that I have no excuse not to do it (I'm on maternity leave so I have plenty of time).

Well done! It's good to get out of the house with baby, and it does sound like a lot, especially with the amount of preparation that has to be completed to do it. :)

I'd forgotten how long it takes to just set a foot out of the door, and how much stuff you have to lug around. It feels like preparing for a bloody military expedition...

Also, me too. I do it online whenever my partner (who loves food shopping, huzzah for orthogonal life skills) is away.

I used to use Amazon Fresh and loved it, but they stopped delivering to my area, bother them. I tried Jet a couple of times and my yoghurts got smashed both times due to lousy packing and careless shipping. I wish I could find someone as good as Amazon Fresh again.
