I filled nine large blue Ikea bags with elephant grass leaves and then I came inside, had a shower and wrote a rant about it which is public in case anybody needs some help in deciding whether or not to plant elephant grass in their garden.

TL;DR, do not plant elephant grass.

I removed an object that had turned out less durable than it had been purchased for, and then cleaned up the mess it left behind as much as I could.
