It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished! Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

Got the turkey carcass into the crockpot around noon, with assorted veg and seasonings, and let it simmer. It smells like soup at the moment, but I shall give it another hour or so, before I strain it and get it into the fridge.

This is an accomplishment of note, only because the last time I did this, I told myself I wasn't going to do it again as it was annoying and took all day and 2 attempts - it did not fit into the crockpot properly so after hours of it not doing anything useful, I had to switch to a stovetop operation. And the resulting broth was...meh.

But! This time I cut up the carcass so that it squished down into a more compact bundle, and added some more seasonings - and I'm not going to try to freeze the broth for a future use - I'm going to make a turkey soup or stew tomorrow with it - or at least some of it :D

EDIT: and YES I am two weeks early for US Thanksgiving, LOL. But the turkey was on sale LAST weekend for 35 cents/lb and I did not have room in my freezer, so it sat in the fridge all week thawing, and I roasted it Thursday :D

WOP WOP

I got back from class and shopping this morning, went into the kitchen to put my groceries away - and realized that I left the dang broth out on the countertop ALL NIGHT. I wanted to let it cool down for a bit before putting it in the fridge, but totally forgot about it.

Since I do not want botulism or salmonella soup, I dumped it out - and I am MAD about it now!

Thankfully, I actually kept a few cups of the liquid from the roasting pan and it has been in the fridge - so I will use that for my soup and call it good.
