Took out recycling.

Haircut.

Post office for mail.

Loaded dishwasher.

Data cleaning. And more data cleaning. Took the ex-PhD student (not mine, we share an office) out for lunch to celebrate the next-to-last hurdle to her being a graduate. More data cleaning.

Went to counseling. Talked about hard stuff. Got sympathy, and affirmation that I'm doing the right thing, and affirmation that This Is Hard, and sympathetic laughter at the Oh FFS Asshole Doctor bit. I got the correct counselor.

Ran errands.

Communication, and a course correction on something said with good intentions but bad effects. I got the correct Gentle Caller, also.

Advised goddaughter on internship cover letters.

Teaching in labs. Dealing with multiple students with Issues.

I made some felt-backed things, which counts as successes in tracing, cutting, using an iron, and not getting too down on myself if it doesn't turn out perfectly.

Communicated. Not as well as I had hoped, but was willing to take correction.

The communication was satisfactory in the end, was it not? And in that case, that is what matters. And little errors and their corrections make the process more robust, and therefore more trustworthy, later on.

It turned out okay in the end, yes. Just a round with the weasels about perfect requirements. But, as I tell the caregivers, "practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect."

And isn't it lucky you didn't have much opportunity to practice it the wrong way, then? ^_^
