Rammed a whole bunch of work into today (just finished) so I can comfortably take tomorrow off. Apart from that telecon I have to dial into, but I just have to listen so can do that from the car.

Took advantage of Verizon bringing back unlimited data plans. It's $5 less than my contracted price, and my contract is up next month, so why not?

Went to the apartment of some new friends for a low-key friendly thing for the first time. This is literally the first completely planned-by-and-for-just-them-and-us in-home social event (as opposed to an open or semi-open meetup, or gathering with relatives, or emergency) I've done in Portland in the almost 2 years I've been here, because I am shy and socially anxious and chronically out of spoons and difficult to match for friends based on common interests, and I am so pleased that the lovely people we met through gaming also seem to think S and I are lovely to hang out with for a bit.

Communication with my primary partner.

Discovered a novel way that my brain could break, in the process of communication with my primary partner.

Gave some logistical support.

Did some baking.

It was a race condition in my mental security. My brain hadn't allowed for the possibility that there might be something that I was *both* keeping from thinking about for my own good, *and* not talking about with my partner because we'd already discussed it and it was a likely stress point for them, too. So I loaded it into active memory and quickly realized the error...

This is hilarious because both of us specialize in finding edge cases, corner cases, and other bugs. They gave a talk on it the night of our first kiss...

Ah, Brains, why do they not do the things that they should!

Edge cases are interesting. My recent working life has been all about 'and under what circumstances will this not go right; what do we do about it' and never managing to determine all of them, and thus having to deal. Including one rather 'entertaining' one were I got a complaint back about a review from a person who had left the group 5 years before, only to discover than they hadn't understood the difference between 'random' and 'balanced' allocations, and thus had done their allocation-to-group in strict rotation between the options.

Am unexpected detour of plans turned out incredibly fortuitously.

Much communication with my partner about all of this, and their delight.

Much more communication making sure they are okay after something that was spoon-destroying.
