It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

Finished chopping up the fallen tree in our garden and stashing the wood in our log shelter.

Humuhumu loves helping. She's willing to hoof around logs that are as thick as her waist, and is very proud of being allowed to use the secateurs to cut up the twigs.

Yes! Must remember to be grateful to the tree for its sacrifice when it keeps us warm next year.

That was a lot of helpful stuff for other people. Go you. (Also, I shake my tiny fist at "budget" airlines and their draconian rules about paper boarding passes.) I hope you get some rest.

Did the assembling parts of 2 skate costumes for kids 2 and 3; this took ~4 hours. Went to skate competition, watched assorted kids skate for 4 hours. Did not give in to temptation for coffee at any point; while today I'm paying for the overwork, paying for the caffeine hangover would have been worse.

Excellent parenting work, and well done on avoiding temptation.

Affirmed that despite difficulties, I do want my primary partner in my life, more than anything else I can think of.

Sometimes there are some very hard days. If I were less attached, it would probably be easier. I would not wish to feel less for them, and the hard work is worthwhile. But there are still hard days.

Here's hoping that the number of hard days will be small.

Thank you.

It helps a lot that the root cause (as determined in the post-incident analysis) was an interaction between a simple-to-fix and small problem, and a whole lot of trauma (much less simple to fix). And the compounding factors also have some simple steps to help future events.

The way that everyone managed to have a completely lousy day is unfortunate, but not actually the fault of anyone but the jackasses who left all involved parties with massive amounts of trauma.

Trauma, the [thingy] that keeps on giving. I hear you all too well.

I...made it through the day, and despite everything that happened, I did not suffer the horrible worst thing, even though my brain was convinced that it was all I deserved.

Congratulations on surviving. Hopefully your brain is more forgiving/understanding of reality today, and understands that you deserve good things.

It...doesn't, no, but that's because it doesn't yet have a working model where forgiveness-without-grudge is a thing that happens, and that past mess-ups aren't going to come back and be thrown in my face.

Sometimes living through it and having it come out okay is the only way up.
