Rather than panic when I had a small disagreement with our brown wheelie bin this morning whilst reversing that resulted in the passenger side wing mirror being knocked off the car, I:

- stopped, set the brake & turned off the car
- asked a person on a canal boat that happened to be going through our lock for help
- popped inside and got biscuits for the kids (who were in the back)
- popped back out and held the wing mirror whilst friendly passerby used his Stanley knife to extract the electrical connector from its sadly dangling shell
- dropped off the kids at nursery and school
- came home, searched eBay for the correct wing mirror model and bought one. It's even the right colour!

Now I'm going to have the most enormous mug of tea. With sugar in. Because it's only sodding Monday and I have four days of single parenting to look forward to.

Answered a bunch of emails that had been languishing in my inbox for a month or so.

Did some work on the essay due next Friday (instead of the one due this Friday, sigh).

I did housework for a short period of time, rested for a long period of time, and then achieved multiple errands, including solving the sudden need for tap shoes that middle child developed over the weekend (tap shoes in their size/style have to be ordered in; we lucked in that the orders for the month go in either tonight or tomorrow)

I was helpful to a person that had called off an appointment, only to come and ask for it all the same halfway through what would have been the appointment period.

I arranged a pdf of possible new dentists into a sensible calling order.
