It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

I cooked Christmas lunch. For my mother. Having been driven through the night by my wonderful spouse so she wouldn't be alone. Now relaxing in our guest room, enjoying the free upgrade.

Hang in there! I presume there is value in being around the relatives and thus continuing with the tongue biting.

I managed to both start and finish two books! This is actually fewer than I had planned, because I want to reread the Dark Is Rising sequence (5 books) -- I just couldn't read the first one straight through, because the suspenseful bits were really difficult to read. So I read that and the new Seanan Maguire (umm, the sequel to Every Heart a Doorway. Something something sticks and bones?)

I can usually read a full novel (as long as it isn't a doorstop) in a full day, so I kind of thought that five kids books should be easy. The second one was actually a novella, so not difficult to finish across an afternoon.

But now I have to get back to serious, responsible-mouse reading.

I put together a fiendishly tiny bunch of not-Lego bricks.

I didn't swear in front of Father Bob. (Though I did say "Mother of dragons!" a lot when a brick slipped. Which they did often.)

None of my vague apprehensions about a rowdy, alcohol-fuelled family gathering came to pass. Nobody seemed to get past a mild buzz, and the least harmonious thing I noticed was a little bit of swearing all around when various bricks (Lego and otherwise) escaped or otherwise misbehaved. Which is to be expected. And some instruction sheets are terrible.

It was! And now I know what a holiday with that section of the out-laws is like.

I had a holiday without incident and without worry.
