I talked to the Neighbor Feed Store, explained my tale of woe* and borrowed a pitchfork, and started moving the hay off my fence.

Also they did not want the hay, and having it hauled it expensive, but it is Very Rotten and thus good for my garden. \o/

*their snowplow driver buried our mutual fence under a shedload of rotten hay in the course of an overenthusiastic snow plowing

I enjoyed my work anniversary despite it being busy. I also did a load of dishes when I got home. Soon, as soon as it comes in, we will have a functional dishwasher!!!
