tw for death



My father died this morning and I'm honestly really proud of myself for calling my mom and setting boundaries around how long I could keep her company if she has to be at the morgue the whole day. She was surprisingly understanding and focused more on how overwhelmed I got at the hospital last Friday than my prepared reasons, which were "I will put my foot in my mouth" and "I keep crying." So... that's nice.

Thank you. My mom's been incredibly understanding, even about me skipping the funeral today. I always thought I'd skip it out of spite, but I skipped it because I would have punched somebody.

My aunt has really come through for my mom so that's been a huge help for all of us but maybe especially for me. I feel like my cousin's done more of what should have been my work than I have. I've done a lot more violent throwing up from crying though. <3

Went on a long walk up the canal with the children, and then stopped in at the pub on the way back for lime-and-sodas. It was busy, and very nice couple with a beautiful dog called Bella shared their table with us.

Hung out again w/neighbor friend across the hall for most of the day, and have tried to keep his sharp mind occupied with positivity. Not that easy though. But I also managed to get in some other things, such as writing a bit in my journal for the creative-writing workshop which I haven't attended for about 2 years now. It's a good thing they started sending out the prompts to those of us who for whatever reason cannot attend in person. I'm honestly going to try and do more of that pleasure writing, and work on it with said neighbor/friend. He's been extremely negative towards himself though as of late, so we'll see how it goes. Some of the prompts are about love, and he does not love himself at all.

Kiddo hates airports less now, because she has a home with me and my household, plus her own place with cat, to come back to.
