It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

Had a shower and washed my hair.

Moved a bunch of stuff from the shelf by the front door to the pantry cupboard.

Sorted some rubbish into a rubbish bag.

Ordered some stuff I needed from online shops.

I'm going to go here in a bit and pick-up the groceries and my Mom's meds.

The final to-and-fro.

Got a misdelivered piece of mail to the right place.

Was ready to go to the movies on short notice. Had a plan for the obnoxiously placed recline controls.

Asked for moral support in cooking.

Hung out again w/neighbor friend across the hall for part of the morning, then went with a next-door neighbor and another friend to a talk about racism. The talk was given by an author who has a few books out on the subject, and one in the works. He's very passionate about the subject as he should be, and we really enjoyed his talk. He took questions from the audience. We were supposed to have lunch there, but by the time we arrived the food was gone. So I just had a soda, and we went somewhere after the talk.

I finished my civil service requirement, and then sensibly went to go see a movie.

I love the idea of moral support in cooking. I think it’s after the cooking’s happened that I feel the most need for it (was all that faff worth it? did I use that expensive ingredient efficiently? etc)

Hope that the talk was helpful, and that you learned useful things!

Is this a civil service requirement as in community service, or something to do with government, or something else? Hurrah for finishing it, in any case!

For me it's often a more sous-chef role. Could you please hand me the soup can. Do you see the dill because I don't. Cheese?

It helps keep me from brain locking up because two things have simultaneous equal importance, and my brain recognizes my partner as a trustworthy entity who usually does the other thing that I know needs doing.

That makes a lot of sense! My brain doesn’t do that except when I’m very very tired, but I can see how a trusted partner would be helpful.

Usually it takes the form of "I need to start the soup and I also need to clear the sink and my brain is locked."
"Okay, I'll get the sink."
"Great, thank you!"

But there was one time that we were both in a chat and someone came in looking for the admins because they had discovered someone left a note suggesting they were in peril. My partner, without previous coordination from me, started calmly interviewing the scared friend while I started hunting down the admins. It was exactly what needed doing and while user in peril calls are always super stressful, I felt supported instead of panicked and alone. So we have that history.
