Laundry;

Called chemist and ordered prescription medication;

Put cold groceries away in fridge;

Put room temp groceries away in cupboard [SO MANY TRIPS BACK AND FORTH];

Sorted pile on floor into keep; rehome; recycle; rubbish and took to outside recycling bins and outside rubbish bins;

Messaged Buy Nothing people to arrange collections;

Cleaned two grotty bowls by hand so that they would be ready for Buy Nothing collection tomorrow;

Showered and washed my hair.

That's a lot done in a day.

Did a load of laundry, made some phone calls, wiped down the living room heavily touched areas, and finished a chapter of a fic I'd been working on and posted it.

Woo! Fic progress with all the other things is so nice.

Recorded some lecture material and worked on another week's worth of content.

Met my replacement in my Old Job and was delighted to find it was someone I knew already, who decided to transfer from research into professional services. I have confidence they'll be excellent in the role.

Huzzah, progress! And also, knowing your position is going to be in good hands is nice.

Helped a sister out again with her tech, by first performing some first-aid on mine just to make sure I knew what I was doing. Fortunately I did. The good news is that it turned out that my Mac didn't need said maintenance, but I'm glad I checked it out before showing her what to do because I vaguely remembered the button existed but had forgotten where exactly it was. The bad news is that it didn't solve her issue, so our mother and I think the next step is taking the infected Mac to a local Apple maintenance store.





Talked again w/some neighbors on the phone.





Started packing up for my "official" move back in to apartment.

Learned the cost of fixing a minor problem on my tablet. (Which was too much to justify doing it.)

Took care of a few leftovers in the refrigerator.

Oof, so annoying when a repair is too expensive to be justifiable.

The "antiquated" tablet has a line of stuck pixels, which probably heralds screen problems.

Screen replacement is $250 in the next week. After that, it would not be repaired.

A current model is in the $400 range.

I'm probably going to ride this one into the ground until I have to replace it.

Ouch, yes, it would suck if you paid that much and then something else went wrong.

I’m trying to get my no-longer-non-stick rice cooker insert recoated, since everything about the rice cooker works absolutely fine, it’s just the insert is now a real pain to clean. I’m expecting it to cost at least as much as a new rice cooker (and that’s if any of the coating companies I emailed ever get back to me).

(And no, I can’t just buy a new insert — my partner did extensive research and found they no longer sell replacement parts for this model.)
