Just one thing: 27 December 2020
Dec. 26th, 2020 11:07 amIt's challenge time!
Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.
Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!
Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!
Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.
Go!

Date: 2020-12-27 11:39 pm (UTC)I found the floor in my living room all I have to do in there is dust tomorrow and that's done, I picked-up yesterday's mail and watched a big chunk of the Dr. Who marathon at least until Clara turned up. The actress is so good in Victoria, but I don't like what the script and direction did to her character.

Date: 2020-12-28 09:44 pm (UTC)I wrote a list of resources for someone else who is eager to learn to knit. That list is here: https://holiday-wishes.dreamwidth.org/71433.html?thread=962569#cmt962569

Date: 2020-12-29 12:12 am (UTC)Taking a class did help with the learning, but to be honest, a lot I figured out by myself by consulting various sources. It took three different resources (the paper handout from my class, a book, and a video) for me to put the movements together so I could successful purl. I'm not saying that to scare you away but to assert that I *did* learn mostly on my own. Since I learned the basics in the class, everything else I picked up from various videos, or just following along with what a pattern told me to do.
So, yes, you absolutely can learn on your own, and there's tons of knitters who have successfully done so. One of the reasons why I really like KnittingHelp.com is that most of her videos have both an English and Continental version. Those are the two primary ways to knit - I knit Continental but can do English, too. I'd try both and see which feels more comfortable.

Date: 2020-12-28 01:28 pm (UTC)My neighbor across the hall came over to chat, and I gave him the gift that I promised him last week. My mom and I were a bit worried that the book we ordered would set off triggers for him, since one of them is politics. But he says he likes the book and that he'll decide about the triggers, so we'll just see what happens. It was written by a White House photographer, and contains mainly pictures. He's one of those with a politically-divided family, which is a large part of this whole mess.
Talked w/my tutor, who is doing respite again for a neighbor who is on staycation until Friday.
