Went out with a friend and her five-month-old, and helped with the baby so she could eat her lunch with two hands -- she was so excited about the two hands thing. :)

OH MY WORD YES. What a kind thing to have done!

I long to consume a meal that is not either wolfed down at my desk or attempting to manoeuvre food into my mouth around a wriggling toddler (on my lap, off my lap, on my lap, off my lap, repeat ad infinitum...).

Yeah, I'm not any good at buying baby clothes or toys or anything but I live nearby and am happy to come round and hold the baby while my friend does exciting things like hang up laundry or eat lunch in relative peace. I figure the baby has plenty of Batman onesies and this is a better way I can be useful. :)

You are so right. Possibly her gratitude seems disproportionate but truly, it's not. What you're doing is invaluable. :)

Oh it doesn't seem disproportionate -- I don't have kids but I can see how many simple things become complex once they're involved. My friend's very self-sufficient and used to coping on her own cos her wife works long hours, so I know if she accepts my offers to take the baby or anything, it's clearly a big deal. :)

God, I bet. I recently moved in with friends who have an almost-one-year-old and they have learned to eat SO FAST.

Woke up in time to go to the dentist. Considering when I got to bed, this is a feat.

This morning I shocked myself by managing not only to take my meds when I got up, but to go on to take my inhaler, brush my teeth, and shower, all in one go (instead of struggling with each one at a later time).

Took the dog for a walk.
