Hello, Awesomeers!

I have a challenge for you. In fact, I think I'm going to make this a daily challenge. Participate as often or as infrequently as you feel like, and over time we'll see if this should happen daily/weekly/whatever interval works.

The challenge:

Comment with Just One Thing that you've accomplished in the past twenty-four hours. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

This can be really anything. (Some days the most impressive thing I accomplish is "got out of bed at some point".) Nothing is too small, too strange, or too cryptic - "did that thing I was dreading" is fine if you don't feel like sharing the details.

I drove seven hours! Longest previous trip: under 1.5 hours.

Good god, the fact that you didn't get road hypnosis is impressive as all hell. Just the thought of driving that long makes me twitch.

What's road hypnosis? I think I was too afraid I'd miss my turn. Or get run over. I was doing 75 mph in a 65 zone and kept getting passed by people who had to be doing 85 at least.

Road hypnosis is when you start to...kind of fall asleep, but just generally slowly stop thinking, the longer you drive. The sight of the road just going on and on and on is just...well, hypnotizing. It can put you in a trance, where you're likely to get hit.

I've never understood it, either, because highway driving scares me. Especially with all those big trucks and the variable speed limits.

This actually happens to me a lot, especially on long drives that I've done often. When we were moving from Northern VA to VA Beach, I did that 3 hour drive so many times, the last time I had to stop every 40 minutes or so because my brain kept trying to shut down.

I used to love roadtrips like that, but they are really taxing. Good going on getting through it!

I took the first few steps on my plans to try my hand at game modding! EarthBound has a good infrastructure for it, and I need to get my hand back into programming.

It felt good.

*hugs* Go, you! That is a good and worthy thing that a lot of other people don't manage.

I have, after 20 years on and off daily meds, gotten very good at taking daily meds. With mostly-minimal issues.

It's the ones that shouldn't be, and I don't want them to be, daily meds that I grumble about.

But someone invented pain meds, presumably so that humans could remain functional. I might as well take advantage.

I get far more accomplished when the pain scale is a little less dire. (At least, this is the current reasoning-round-the-weasels.)

I made it through the day and I didn't cry. (I'm waiting for surgery for a giant thing that's invaded my body and it's been an anxiety and pain riddled time.)

With that kind of pressure on your heart and mind? That's a huge thing. Not that releasing the emotion is bad, but I know it makes you feel like you're controlling part of the uncertainty when you can keep that emotion reigned in.

I went with my son to get the tattoo I've wanted for a long time and the artist kept laughing the whole time because of the way we talked during the inking. He said he wished he'd had a relationship like that with his mom.

I went to a party today and did not freak out or feel too awkward talking to new people, and when I got overwhelmed I just went and pet the hosts' dog instead.

Good for you! Parties and small talk are totally a thing that comes with practice, well done for being brave and learning your own coping techniques.

I went for a walk, even though it's so cold lately, and I also undid four incorrect rows on a knitting project so I can FINALLY start making forward progress on it again.

\o/ Those are both excellent things. Stuck knitting projects can be such a pain. ugh.

I did ALL the laundry. And gave myself license to stay in all day yesterday, not tell my friends I was home (I was away all last week) and play the Sims guilt-free. Which, computer games in your pyjamas isn't exactly an accomplishment, but it was well-needed and I worked so hard last week!

Excellent! Giving yourself the break you need is absolutely an achievement.

Recognising what you need and making time to get it IS an important skill. (And nothing wrong with Sims either!)

I sent all the e-mails I needed and wanted this week, without being chicken about it and putting it off for weeks until so much time has passed that it's ridiculous and borderline insulting to still answer anyway.
